VARIOUS STUFF - ALPHIN PIKE TO CHEW RESERVOIR and beyond...
BACK TO LOCAL PHOTO INDEX

Early morning on a cool sunny March morning heading up to Alphin Pike. Down below is the edge of Greenfield with Wharmton and its mast to the right and Grasscroft on the hillside to the right.

View from the summit of Alphin Pike past Buckton Vale Quarry.

Looking south to the hills of the Derbyshire Peak District.

Another view from Alphin to Manchester City centre around 0715 on a beautiful morning. A little bit of snow remains from a light covering earlier in the week.

A frozen pool on the moors at Alphin.

On the edge of Wimberry Moss with Dovestone Reservoir below

View from the dam of Chew Reservoir

A look back to Chew Reservoir while heading east across the moors, not a soul around!

This photo covers 3 counties, it is taken just inside Saddleworth near Black Chew Head, highest point in Greater Manchester but the view is over the moors of North Derbyshire to Black Hill (left) and the Holme Moss TV Mast both of which lie in West Yorkshire.

Here my walk leaves Saddleworth so to see the rest of the photos from today then follow this link
