This first photo is actually outside Mossley but it makes a good starting point, showing the newly built section of canal through Stalybridge town centre.
Heyrod, to the west of Mossley near the site of the now demolished Hartshead Power Station. I assume the remains of the structure above the canal was once part of the power station complex.

Here's a more up to date photo of the same scene, though on a much wetter day! The new houses have been built and Carrhill Mill (the large brick building on the photo above) has been demolished. But the Mossley skyline remains the same...

Looking down to the canal as it passes through the Roaches area of Mossley. Note the small aquaduct near the trees to the left where the canal crosses the River Tame, and a narrow boat passing the new houses.
