VARIOUS STUFF - PHOTOS OF GREENFIELD MARINA on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal
BACK TO LOCAL PHOTO INDEX

A selection of photos showing the construction of a new marina on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal at Greenfield. Feb 2007 with the site cleared.

Summer 2007 view looking the opposite direction, work was delayed for planning reasons.

Feb 2008 with the marina dug and the canal blocked.

View showing the drained section of canal and entrance to the marina. See the next but one photo below for a similar view once the canal had reopened...

March 2008 with the canal reopened and the marina filled - the marina is the second area of water, the first is just a large puddle!

July 2008 with the canal reopened and the new towpath bridge in place (it's hard to get a view from here in the summer with the leaves out!)

November 2008 with the building of the pub/ restaurant almost complete

March 2009 with the pub 'the Kingfisher' now open

The marina frozen over in January 2010, when the thaw comes the boat will be able to leave and that chair would not be a wise place to sit!

Summer 2010 - compare this photo with the one above, or better the 4th one above from the sme viewpoint. The mill behind has been demolished to make way for the building of a supermarket.
