Heading up the hillside in an area called White Gate. The view is to Wharmton, the hill with the mast opposite, and down the valley over Greenfield to Uppermill and beyond under increasingly darkening skies.
At the summit of Alphin Pike, 469m above sea level and right on the Saddleworth/Tameside border. The buildings of Mossley are to the right and beyond is Manchester and Cheshire.
