VARIOUS STUFF - A NEW
YEARS DAY WALK TO ALPHIN PIKE
BACK TO LOCAL PHOTO INDEX
Heading up the hillside in an area called White Gate. The view is to Wharmton, the hill with the mast opposite, and down the valley over Greenfield to Uppermill and beyond under increasingly darkening skies.
At the summit of Alphin Pike, 469m above sea level and right on the Saddleworth/Tameside border. The buildings of Mossley are to the right and beyond is Manchester and Cheshire.
Another view from the summit this time south over Buckton Moor to the hills of the Derbyshire Peak District.
Looking down from Wimberry Rocks to Dovestone and Yeoman Hey Reservoirs.
Heading back to Greenfield alongside Chew Brook
