VARIOUS STUFF - SNOW FEBRUARY 2007 in SADDLEWORTH
BACK TO LOCAL PHOTO INDEX

The second week of February 2007 was cold and there was heavy snow in places, espcially the Midlands and Wales and also parts of the Pennines and Peak District but sadly for me the heavier snow never made it to Mossley, we just a thin covering which soon thawed. But it was still cold, this is the canal on the morning of the 10th with the ice having been broken by a passing narrow boat.

At higher levels there was more snow and some still remained on the 10th, particularly where the strong wind had caused drifting. This is Knowl End Lane above Uppermill.

The view near Pots and Pans above Uppermill in a strong and very cold east wind.

Heading back down to Uppermill at Slades around midday on 10th February, the wind and thaw had left the lower fields bare of snow but there were some impressive drifts.

More drifts at Slades

The next day, 11th Feb as the thaw continued but drifts remain at the end of Harrop Edge above Diggle.
