VARIOUS STUFF - SADDLEWORTH SCENES LATE SPRING 2011
BACK TO SADDLEWORTH & MOSSLEY PHOTO INDEX

The second half of April and start of May 2011 was very dry and sunny, here's a few photos around Saddleworth from that time (also taken to try out a new camera!) This is Well i Hole, Greenfield looking to Wharmton

Although it was sunny there was at times a strong east wind blowing down the valley making it chilly, and creating waves on Dovestone reservoir

The dry weather led to some serious moorland fires in parts of the Pennines. Fortunately there were no major ones in my local area but there were some smaller fires as this scar on the side of Buckton Hill shows.

The dry spell ended after the first week of May with plenty of rain later for the rest of the month, indeed some dark clouds can be seen building on the this photo.

But there was still the occasional sunny spell as seen in this evening view in the fields above Greenfield and Uppermill on the last day of May.
