VARIOUS STUFF - KINDER SCOUT REVISITED FEB 2008
BACK TO PEAK DISTRICT PHOTO INDEX

Since moving house from the Derbyshire border I hadnt been up Kinder for nearly 2 years. That was put right in a walk from Glossop to Hayfield on a very sunny but chilly day in February 2008. This is looking back to Glossop from the track up to Black Moor

Kinder from Mill Hill

Once on the plateau I decided to head along the quiet northern edge to avoid the 'crowds', not that it was busy but I wanted to enjoy the experience of being up there without other people being around!

Looking across to Bleaklow

The view down to Ashop Clough

Ashop Clough and the moon, which had been out all day

After a while I turned right to head across the middle of Kinder to the downfall, on the way having a stroll through some of the groughs which were very dry for once

At the downfall in the winter sun, the river was just a partly frozen trickle.

Back into the centre of Kinder again at Kinder Gates

The trig point at Kinder Low

And looking north

Kinder Low in the last of the afternoon sun. There had been a chilly breeze all day on the top and as the sun went down the wind chill was bitter - I could only manage without gloves for long enough to take a couple of photos before my fingers went numb!

Looking along to Kinder Low End in the setting sun. It had been wonderful to be back on Kinder again, it's a unique place.
