Looking west down the Longdendale Valley on a summer's evening

A view showing the route of the former Woodhead Railway line from Manchester to Sheffield, now the Longdendale Trail.

The former Woodhead Station with the tunnels behind. The third tunnel was only opened in the 1950s when the line was electrified yet closed less then 30 years later - what a waste!
