BACK TO PEAKS & PENNINES PHOTO INDEX

These photos were taken on a 2 day walk in August 2010 from Hawes to Muker where I camped, then the next day via the Tan Hill Inn back to Kirkby Stpehen. Not great weather for photos but here's a few...

Hardraw Force, at Hardraw near Hawes in Wensleydale.

From Hardraw I walked along the Pennine Way over Great Shunner Fell, this is leaving Hardraw.

Looking south from the walk up Great Shunner Fell.

And the view ahead from the summit.

Heading down Great Shunner Fell looking into Swaledale.

A bit of sunshine at last on the decent into Swaledale.

Signposts indicating the way I'd walked from Hardraw, and the way ahead into Thwaite.

The River Swale in the evening sun at Muker.

Taken in Muker just after I'd left the pub, but the photo proves I wasn't seeing things...

The next morning was another gloomy one despite the evening sun, this is Thwaite.

A view down Swaledale towards Thwaite and Muker.

Waterfall near Keld.

Keld.

And sometime later after walking along the Pennine Way from Keld the famous Tan Hill Inn appears on the horizon.

By the time I'd had a pint in the Tan Hill the sun had come out as I set off on the long final leg of the walk to Kirkby Stephen.

Looking back towards Tan Hill as I crossed the border from North Yorkshire into Cumbria.

A convoy of vintage tractors on the Kirkby Stephen to Tan Hill road.

Near Wrenside on the walk back. I didnt take any more photos despite the sun, I was more concerned with making sure i got back for the last train home.

And I made it with plenty of time to spare. These are the attractive buidlings of Kirkby Stephen station.
