Heading up from Ambleside in beautiful autumn sunshine

The way ahead. I think Dove Crag is the highest ground in the distance just left of centre with Little Hart Crag on the right - let me know if I'm wrong! (it's my first walk in this area of the Lakes)

Looking across Rydal Water with the Langdale Pikes, Bowfell & Crinkle Crags on the skyline.

Back towards Ambleside and Windermere.

Climbing higher towards High Pike, right.

View to the other side of the ridge. The impressive stone wall was followed all the way up.

Looking east from Dove Crag. The walk took me across this ground before climbing Red Screes, the hill sloping out of site on the right.

Down near Scandale Tarn.

Looking north towards Brothers Water from the climb up Red Screes.

At the top of Red Screes at last.

Another view on the summit.

Looking east towards the outline of the Scafells, Great Gable and others.

A zoomed in photo from Red Screes to the Kirkstone Pass Inn, so close yet so far below... It's a tricky and very steep path down, but the resulting pint was well worth it!

A wider view from the top, with the Inn to the left and the lane back to Ambleside (my route back) winding off to the right.

Heading back into Ambleside.
