VARIOUS STUFF - GRISEDALE PIKE & HOPEGILL HEAD WALK - 16 MAR 2010
BACK TO LAKE DISTRICT PHOTO INDEX

Walking up from Braithaite towards Grisedale Pike straight ahead, Eel Crag is to the left slowly emerging from the low cloud.

Getting nearer Grisedale Pike.

On the path up Grisedale Pike with Coledale far below, the path which can be seen would be my route back to Braithwaite later in the day.

Looking back along the route I'd walked, Braithwaite is hidden from view behind the hill while Skiddaw in the background is hidden in the low cloud.

Coming down the other side of Grisedale Pike onto the ridge to Hopegill Head.

The view back to Grisedale Pike.

And on towards Hopegill Head (in the centre of the picture) and Ladyside Pike beyond, as the cloud cleared it was increasingly sunny.

Grisedale Pike from near Hopegill Head and some of the remains of the winter's snow.

The view north from Hopegill Head to Ladyside Pike and north Cumbria.

On Ladyside Pike looking back to Hopegill Head.

The opposite view from Ladyside Pike, it was just possible to make out the hills of south west Scotland and the Isle of Man.

Zoomed in view to Skiddaw.

On the fourth summit of the day, Whiteside, with Crummock Water below.

Gasgale Gill and Coledale Hause from Whiteside.

Grasmoor.

On the ridge back from Whiteside to Hopegill Head.

The opposite side of the ridge.

Causey Pike in the centre with the snowy Helvellyn range on the skyline.

At Coledale Hause, ready to head down the valley back to Braithwaite.

Old mine workings in Coledale.
