These photos were
all taken on 6 December 2008, a cold but sunny day in the Lakes after snow earlier
in the week.
On the shore of Windermere at Waterhead, Ambleside
The view from Skelwith Fold towards the Langdale Pikes.
Another view near Skelwith looking to the snow covered mountains of the central Lakes.
Little Langdale, quite snow free in the sunniest spots but the lanes were treacherous with frozen snow and black ice in the shade.
At the bottom of the Wrynose Pass (on the left), the road heading right leads to Great Langdale. The treacherous conditions mentioned above can be seen here, that slush was frozen solid with black ice between.

Another view down Wynose Pass with the road hidden under deep snow - those are not my footprints, they must have been made earlier in the week (or by a very heavy chap!) because today the snow was firmly frozen.
At the top, note the car which had come to grief and had been abandoned until a thaw.
