VARIOUS STUFF - SNOWY WALK PIKE O' BLISCO - GREAT LANGDALE December 2008 - page 2
BACK TO LAKE DISTRICT PHOTO INDEX

Part 2 of my walk in the Lakes on 6 December 2008 (part 1 is here)

Nearing the top of Pike O' Blisco, the snow was knee deep in places where it had drifted, some of it was firm enough to walk on without sinking too much, elsewhere it wasn't making the going quite tough...

... but the hard work was worth it, the views from the top were stunning as the next lot of photos show. This is looking north east to the Helvellyn range and Fairfield.

A wider view in the same direction.

Looking north past Pike O' Stickle to Skiddaw. The snow line was much higher in the north Lakes with only the top of Skiddaw being covered.

Down to Great Langdale.

North west to Crinkle Crags and Bowfell.

The view south west including Swirl How (I think)

A zoomed in shot to Windermere.

Another zoomed in photo, this time to Fairfield which looked very deeply covered.

South (nearly finished - look you should see how many pics I deleted!).

Looking along the summit

The summit cairn.

Passing a frozen tarn on the way down.

The Langdale Pikes catch the last of the sun.

Down in a very cold Great Langdale.

Looking back towards the Pikes as I walked to Chapel Stile for my bus (and a pint)

Chapel Stile.
