Until the late 1990s
I lived in Wilmslow, Cheshire and during the mid '90s the A34 by pass was built
round the town. This is a before view of
Wilmslow viaduct over the River
Bollin in 1989.

The route of the by pass followed the railway south of Wilmslow. This is the old goods yard and Wilmslow station beyond in 1989.
Building the by pass required a cutting to be dug through the site of the goods yard. Wilmslow signal box in the background shows the location compared with the photo above.

The by pass then continued south through my old school field. This is the before view in 1990.
This is looking the other direction during construction of the by pass down what was the school field. What remained of the field is now a housing estate.
