Looking up Glencoe over Loch Achtriochtan, with cloud covered Aonach Eagach on the left.
Two of the 'Three Sisters', with a glimpse of Bidean nam Bian behind.
Looking back down Glencoe in typical bleak moody Glencoe weather.
Finally I turned off to head up Buachaille Etive Beag, this is looking down Lairig Eilde.
The view back to Glencoe and the A82 road far below.
On the Buachaille looking down to Lairig Eilde.
Making my way along the ridge to the main summit Stob Dubh.
My arrival on the summit of Stob Dubh coincided with a heavy shower of hail and wet snow in a strong wind, you cant see it on this photo but it was snowing and really quite wild!
Once the shower passed the cloud cleared enough for a good view of the peaks of Bidean nam Bian, besides the old snow patches you can make out a dusting of new snow on the peaks.
On my way back down the ridge heading for the summit at the opposite end of Buachaille Etive Beag, Stob Coire Raineach. The 'big Buachaille' Buachaille Etive Mor is to the right.
Looking back to Stob Dubh, with Loch Etive beyond.
On Stob Coire Raineach, with the A82 a long way below.
Buachaille Etive Beag seen from back down on the old road down Glencoe. I then had a long walk back to the campsite, well I would have had if it wasnt for a friendly Geordie couple I'd met on the walk who kindly offered me a lift back - I was very grateful especially as it was raining again. |
