BACK TO SCOTLAND PHOTO INDEX

Suilven seen from near Elphin on the drive north from Ullapool

getting closer to Suilven on the walk from Lochinver

another view of this very distinctive mountain which stands alone and remote

looking back to Lochinver, it was sunny near the coast but getting cloudier inland

Suilven reflected in a lochan

and near the bottom - how are you supposed to get up that?

but after a steep clamber up the side and a wander along the ridge this is on the west summit of Suilvan - Caisteal Liath

view from the top of Suilven over the unique scenery of Assynt, all lochs and strange shaped mountains. Shame the light wasn't very good for photos

another view

looking along the ridge of Suilven to the harder (but slightly lower) east summit - Meall Meadhonach. I didn't attempt to climb that -nor try and pronounce it! .

heading down to the bealach, the mountain on the left is Canisp
