VARIOUS STUFF - MORE SNOW EARLY FEB 2009, SADDLEWORTH, MARSDEN (and Edinburgh)
BACK TO WEATHER PHOTO INDEX

More snow falling in Mossley in the morning of 5 February 2009, topping up the snow which had been around for the previous few days.

6 February on Huddersfield Road above Diggle, heading up Standedge in Saddleworth over to West Yorkshire.

... and over the other side on Old Mount Road above Marsden

Standedge Foot Road, Saddleworth 6 Feb 2009

My means of transport on the 6 Feb! It was hard going through the deep snow (and frightening on the slippy bits - of which there were plenty)

Drifts on Harrop Edge, with Castleshaw Reservoirs below

More drifts at Lydgate, Saddleworth

The day after taking the above photos I went to Edinburgh for a few days, by the evening of 8 February the snow had caught up with me! This is in the city with snow falling and Edinburgh Castle on the skyline.

For many more pics of Edinburgh in the snow have a look here (go on, I know you want to... )

Back home again on the 10th February and there was still lots of snow around on my local hills. This is looking to Dovestone Reservoir with the moors of Saddleworth beyond in the late afternoon sun

By 14th Ferbruary there'd been some thawing but much of Saddleworth was still snowy and the big drifts would take some shifting, such as this one alongside Running Hill Gate above Uppermill.

There's a few more Saddleworth snow photos from Feb 09 (and some the same as this page!) if you follow this link
