VARIOUS STUFF - SKIDDAW LITTLE MAN WALK, 27 FEB 2010
BACK TO WINTER 2009-2010 PHOTO INDEX

Alongside the River Greta in Keswick with flood defence work taking place following the floods of last November. Houses in the area were still being repaired after the floods, it was amazing to think the waters had reached the top of the wall here.

Skiddaw and Little Man are in the background under a blanket of white cloud.

On the way up above Latrigg looking to snow covered Blease Fell.

And the view south east towards Clough Head and the Dodds, the cloud looks as if a small nuclear explosion has gone off!

Looking back towards Keswick, Derwentwater and the snow topped mountains.

A closer view of Derwentwater.

The way ahead with Little Man hidden in cloud.

The fence which marks the spot where the path to Little Man heads off left and to Skiddaw summit goes straight on, the snow was quite deeply drifted at this point.

The summit of Lower Man, which is crossed first before Little Man.

And on top of Skiddaw Little Man.

I cant imagine many people only walk up Little Man and not the main summit, but it was the highest summit in the Lakes I'd not been up despite having been up Skiddaw - a fact that has long troubled me!

So that was my aim for the day and as there was no view and I wanted to get back for a pint before my bus this was as far as I was going.

See what I mean about no view! This is looking from Little Man to the summit of Skiddaw, you'll have to take my word for it...

Dropping back down out of the cloud.

Kewwick and Derwentwater again.

On the path back down with the Dodds and Helvellyn Range mostly hidden by cloud.

A similar view lower down below the snow line.

Back in Keswick, the top of Little Man can now be seen but the main summit remains in the cloud.
