At the top of Haw Clough
Lane above Greenfield where snow was drifting in the wind, a sign of things to
come.
This is the start of the path up Pots and Pans which follows a deep gully, however today I'd have to find a different route! Saddleworth war memorial can be seen on the hilltop partially obscured by the blowing snow.

gully. If someone was stood infront of the drift you could see it was head high.
But how they would have climbed back out would be another matter.
On the top after a tough struggle trying to find the less deep areas of the hillside, not easy at it was often waist deep snow. The photo was taken in the shelter of the 'Pots & Pans' stones to get out of the bitterly cold east wind.

Looking back towards Pots & Pans on an aborted attempt to continue the walk, blowing snow fills the air. Walking into the wind, not being able to see through the snow and constantly sinking into the deep drifts meant it made sense to turn back.

Back down near the bottom of the hill, the depth of the snow can be seen by looking at the wall and fence.
