On 20 May 2000 First North Western ran a railtour to commemorate the end of class 37 workings in North Wales. The train employed 2 DRS 37s, 37608 and 37612 seen here at Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Another photo of the 2 class 37s in the rain (as always) at Ffestiniog.

The other two tour engines were 37379 and 37029, seen here joining the train at Holyhead.

37029 and 37379 again at Holyhead, 20 May 2000. Personally I'd have preferred the railtour to have been worked by the regular 37/4s, such as 37420 seen here standing alongside.

37029 and 37379 at Chester on the farewell tour. Class 37s infact carried on working the coast trains until the end of 2000.

Back to regular service trains, this is 37420 backing onto the 1450 to Crewe at Holyhead, 31 May 2000.

On 31 May 2000 37415 stands at Llandudno Junction with the 1822 Holyhead - Birmingham.

37429 at Llandudno with my train home, the 1954 to Manchester Piccadilly, 31/05/2000.

This is 37429 again arriving at Llandudno Junction with the 1219 Crewe - Holyhead on 4 August 2000.

My day out on 4 August did not go to plan thanks to the failure of 37426 when it expired on the 1530 Crewe - Holyhead. Rescue engine was 47705 and the pair are seen at Rhyl 2 hours late.

Back to 37 haulage with 37413, at Llandudno running round the 1719 from Manchester Piccadilly on 4 August 2000.

My final trip out on the coast was 6 August 2000 when I had a short run from Bangor to Holyhead and back while on holiday in the area. This is 37413 with the 1822 Holyhead - Birmingham at Bangor.

For more photos of 37s on these trains see the Rhosneigr and Manchester pages.
