Living in New Mills I often encountered class 101 DMUs during their final years working out of Manchester Piccadilly. On the odd occasion I had my camera to record some of the workings.


This photo collection actually starts at Chester where a 101 is seen resting in the evening sun on 5 July 1999.

The last day, and one of the final class 101 services. The green unit stands at New Mills Central on Christmas Eve 2003 having arrived on the 1755 from Manchester.
