VARIOUS STUFF - ALL LINE
ROVER JULY 1991
BACK TO INDEX
| In 1990 and 1991 I did 3 All Line Rovers, mainly to travel over all the BR passenger lines I'd not done before. They had their moments, but were also done with strict plans (which often went wrong) and a list of places I needed to visit. They also involved spending hours on multiple units travelling over uninteresting routes. But I'd finally travelled everywhere so in July 1991 I decided to do one last rover, on my own with no plans, nothing particular to do and just enjoy a variety of the last remaining loco hauled services. | |

50002 leaving Andover on the 1255 Waterloo - Exeter St Davids, 21 July 1991. |

I rejoined the 33s later in the day, 33114 and 33002 are seen again during the lengthy wait at Salisbury with the 1455 Waterloo - Exeter. |

I considered taking the 33s to Exeter but also wanted to travel overnight up to Scotland. My mind was made up when we pulled into a station alongside a railfreight 47 heading back to London so I leapt off the 33s and onto the 1548 Exeter - Waterloo in the hope of scratching a new 47. It turned out to be 47279 which I didn't need! Seen leaving Salisbury. |

I then took 50037 to Baisingstoke on the 1445 Plymouth - Waterloo before heading north overnight. |

The next morning several hundred miles away at Forres as 37025 arrives on the 0916 Aberdeen - Inverness, 22 July 1991. |

At Inverness 37407 waits to leave with the 1227 to Kyle of Lochalsh. |

Later on 22 July 1991 47114 is seen on an evening rush hour train round the Cardenden circle. |

Back down south on 23 July 1991 with 50033 at Exeter St Davids having arrived on the 0745 from Baisingstoke. |
