The railways in the Buxton area are all around 1000 feet above sea level so are prone to deep snow and drifts. In winter the snow ploughs would be on standby as seen here with 31234 & 31259. |

26 February 1989. 31255 & 31454 had obviously been out clearing the lines earlier in the week, passed here by a class 108 DMU arriving on a train from Manchester. |
