On 17 July 1986 I had an afternoon trip to Crewe hauled by 33210 on the 1345 Man Picc - Cardiff, seen leaving the station watched by a fat man in a blue jumper.

An unusual site on the depot that day was 40046 which had been recovered after several years in use by the MoD and was on its way for scrap.

Recently named class 31 31296 heads a southbound engineering train, 6 Sept. 1986. In the background are 81022 and 86223.

33015 leaves Crewe with the last ever class 33 hauled 1345 Manchester Piccadilly - Cardiff, 26 September 1986. This was the last day of class 33s working Cardiff trains to Crewe.

All Cardiff trains were booked for class 47s from then on, but not always successfully. 37428 hauls a failed 47594 into Crewe on the late running 1200 from Cardiff. 11 October 1986.

45114 runs onto Crewe Depot, 11 October 1986.

86415 with a southbound freightliner on 8 November 1986.
