My first visit to Crewe Works was on a foggy 17 November 1985. 47709 heads a line of locos waiting for attention.


40183 at Crewe works awaiting scrapping

2 lines of withdrawn class 40s in the fog headed by 40155 and 40104, 17 November 1985.

Also awaiting scapping are 81001, 81015, 84008 and 40168.

2 locos with a bit more of a future than those above! Both these engines have just undergone refurbishment and fitting of ETH but are awaiting repainting, 47068 is about to become 47632 while the class 37 was 37266 and emerged as 37422.

Withdrawn 40028 at Crewe Works, 12 April 1986.

Derelict class 40s - 40143, 40160, 40004, 40104 and 40195.

2 more lines of engines for scrap, 40058, 45053, 40115, 40139 and 40091 - 12 April 1986.

37506 and 47365 ready to leave the works.
