On 27 September 1986 I made my first visit to Edinburgh where class 27
27052 is seen taking a break from working services to Dundee.
I travelled out to Haymarker where I had 27053 back into Edinburgh on a late running train from Dundee.
27055 then backed onto the stock to work back to Dundee - it is seen here waiting to do so. I did the train for the very short leap back to Haymarket. This was the last weekend of class 27s working these trains, from the Monday they went over to DMUs.
Return from Haymarket on the 1230 Dundee - Edinburgh was powered by 47004, unfortunately not another 27. Still at least I'd had two class 27s and was only in Edinburgh for just over an hour.
My train home on 27 September 1986 left Edinburgh behind a non-Scottish 47621, which was infact based at Old Oak Common. The service is 1415 Edinburgh - Cardiff

At Carstairs 87010 arrived with the Glasgow portion of the train, it is seen here passing 47621 before the two portions were shunted together and 87010 took us south - 27 Sept 1986.
On 29 November 1986 I had another short visit to Edinburgh, during the break at Carstairs I photographed 47550, 47425 and 26031.
