37683 + 37683 at Wolverhampton having worked the 1010 Aberystwyth - Euston, 28/05/1988.
37684 and 37678 arrive at Welshpool with the 1010 Aberystwyth - Euston on 4 June 1988.
A photo taken on an old camera with poor quality black & white film, so not a good photo but an interesting one. Solo 20042 stands at Nottingham on the 1015 Skegness - Sheffield after 20029 had failed and been left behind. 20042 came off at Notts and 20157 and 20182 took over the train
On 25 June 1988 37215 and 37029 leave Welshpool on the 0740 Euston - Pwllheli.
The same day recently named 37688 with 37380 at Wolverhampton on the 1010 Aberystwyth - Euston
20189 (which had failed) and 20176 at Derby with the 1254 from Skegness, 2 July 1988. Although not booked for class 20s this train was worked by the class on a number of occasions in 1988.

Back to Wales with 37278 and 37185 leaving Welshpool, 30 July 1988 with the 0740 Euston - Pwllheli.
Besides the 2 trains worked by pairs of no heat 37s, there was a third train booked for 37/4s. This is it, the 0940 Euston -Aberystwyth at Shrewsbury with 37430 and 37431. 30/07/1988.

The locos for the Pwllhelli train would wait in the sidings at Shrewsbury station, on 20 August 1988 they were 37101 and 37254.
The 0740 Euston - Pwllheli was booked to pass the 1010 Aberystwyth - Euston at Newtown, but on 20 August the Pwllehli train was late so they passed at Welshpool. Locos are 37101 + 37254 and 37676 + 37688.

Interesting smoke effects

I could only afford shorter trips (being at school at the time) and also
I usually needed the locos on the Aberystwyth train.
