On 1 October 1988 an HST set led by 43031 was an unusual site at Manchester Victoria. It was on the 1736 to Plymouth which was workign from Vic due to engineering work at Piccadilly. Alongside is 47557 on the also diverted 1727 to Euston
47340 and 31296 at Victoria on 31 October 1988.

On 22 January 1989 37677 and 37683 set off from a signal stop at the old
Manchester Exchange station platform outside Victoria with a Peakstone
train.
