It was in summer 1987 I started going out just to ride behind interesting engines, though never venturing away from the Manchester. Even so, it was possible to get a number of 'no heat' 31s and 47s on a Saturday, such as 47312 at Oxford Road on 0750 Yarmouth - Liverpool on 11 July.
