47647 at Stockport with a light dusting of snow on 6 February 1988. The loco was working an ECS train and had just run round the stock before heading to Longsight (or maybe it was comign from Longsight - I cant remember and does it really matter!)
Later on 6 February the snow had melted and 31275 had arrived on a long
train of parcels stock
The famous 'Pennine Forty Farewell' railtour which D200 hauled in undercoat and in very poor condition, running very late at Stockport on 12 March 1988. It is with 97252 (ETHEL3) providing heat and 47627 is in the centre road.
Another view of the tour, 47332 had just come off assisting the train due to D200's poor state. I remember our surprise arriving at Stockport to see D200 in this condition. For a photo of D200 a few weeks later in its proper colours see here.

On 3 May 1988 one of the new class 155 units leaves Stockport on a training run ready for taking over the Manchester - Cardiff trains later in the month. Alongside is 31178.
A mishap at Stockport on 8 May 1988 when a class 108 DMU from Buxton depot ran into the buffers in the bay platform at the south of the Station.
The 'Hoover Dambuster' tour heads through Stockport behind 50009 and 50036 on 14 May 1988.
Another railtour to
appear at Stockport on 14 May was the 'Peak and Sea', with 45052 in charge
having just run round before heading to Buxton
The start of a depressing new era - the first day of the summer 1988 timetable which saw many loco hauled trains replaced with 2 coach 'sprinters'. This is a new class 156 on the 1414 Blackpool - Harwich on 16 May.
Not everythig went to plan though, due to a shortage of units there was a diagram for class 37/4s on the Manchester - Cardiff route. This is 37430 on the 1000 Man Picc - Cardiff, 26 July 1988.
47411 approaches Stockport on the the 1451 (SUN) Manchester Piccadilly - Euston, 31 July 1988
On 4 September 37680 and 37677 cross Stockport Viaduct with a southbound ICI hopper train from the Peak District to Northwich.
