The first working was 4 November 1989 when 56104 was used, seen arriving
at Keighley with the 1242 Carlisle - Leeds, rain engine was 47503.
The following week I did the train all the way to Carlisle, class 56 56030 was used with 47475. 85103 is seen alongside.
On the return working we had a break at Garsdale due to early running, 56030 and 47475 pose for photos with the 1242 Carlisle - Leeds, 11 November 1989.
18 November at Leeds with the 1242 from Carlisle worked by 56099 and 47477, 47814 is alongside on the 0900 Poole - Newcastle.
The final working of November 1989 used class 20s. This is 20061 and 20093 at Carlisle, train engine was 47444 and the class 37 on the freight train is 37083.
In 1990 the first working was 25322/D7672 on the 0825 Leeds - Carlisle with 47422 on 24 February. On this date the 0634 Carlisle - Leeds was also worked by special motive power (see below), the two trains are seen passing here at Keighley.
The 0634 Carlisle - Leeds had 26007 leading 47443, seen on arrival at Leeds 24/02/1990.

3 March 1990 saw 58036 putting in a guest appearance, pictured at Carlisle with the 0825 from Leeds. 47456 was the train engine.
On 10 March 1990 37104 was used on the 0825 Leeds - Carlisle with 47456, photographed here at Keighley.
The 0634 Carlisle - Leeds was also specially hauled again on 10 March with 20905 and 20906, seen with 47422 at Leeds.
After a ride behind the 20s to Kirby Stephen I rejoined 37104 to head back south, it is seen arriving on the 1242 Carlisle - Leeds, 10/03/1990.
Over Xmas 1991 the S&C line had more unusual engines working but by this time I wasn't bothered about about getting new engines other than class 37s, so I only went out once. That was 27 December when 37071 & 37083 worked the 0947 from Leeds, seen at Carlisle with 47489
The return working was 1318 to Leeds which was worked by another pair, 37095 and 37049 - seen at Carlisle waiting to join their train 27/12/1991.
