Ex works 37229 arrives at Dumfries on 15 September 1990 with the 1040 Ayr - Carlisle. I was glad I made it to Dumfries for the inward working of this train because 37229 failed on arrival at Carlisle.
Due to the failure of 37229 the return working, the 1400 Carlisle - Ayr was worked by 31412 meaning a lot of unhappy people who'd travelled some distance to get 37229.
