In the mid 1990s some class 305 units were sent to the North West to work local trains, this is 305511 at Handforth on an Alderely Edge - Deansgate train on 16 May 1998.
A Eurostar train heads south through Cheadle Hulme on 9 March 1998 while on a test run. These trains ran each day for some time preparing for a Manchester - France service which never actually happened.
